Hiall I’m looking for some advice, I have a 3L tdi CAPA engine and it’s currently out the car. The engine has 160,000 miles on it, i have read that at 200,000 miles the timing chain should be done. I have took the gearbox off and removed timing chain covers from the rear of the engine.

(Massboykie) VRs actually have timing chains, and 2 of them i believe. service intervals on them are every ~100k miles. while you're getting them done, i'd suggest swapping out a bunch of your gaskets and maybe your thermostat housing, clutch etc. anything else that may need help.
ithink you're confused, seen. what you should be asking about is if you should replace the timing chain GUIDES. they are made of plastic and often are the likely part to fail. you're at around the point to be kinda worrying, but not quite. i would say shoot for ~100k. but plenty of b6s have made it far beyond that. drive her nice, change the oil a lot and you should

Its all timing chains at the back of the engine, no belts for the engine timing components. I thought that might be the case. It looks like Audi is now using the setup they seem to have pioneered in the V8 Allroad in, like, 2003, or thereabouts. They must have just axed 2 of the cylinders.
