No Abarth has a muffler. Some of them have what LOOKS like a muffler but there is nothing inside it except a pipe. At the time of release, the egineers weren't sure if the car would meet noise requirements without a muffler, so they stuck the "suitcase" on just in case they needed it later.
One thing to bear in mind is that the 500 is still a relatively recent car (albeit based on the Panda platform), and therefore accurate documentation costs money. I happen to have the proper FIAT service manuals for all FIAT cars in the last 6 or 7 years, bought legitimately from FIAT and it cost me couple of hundred Euro.

Connecting a 16W output to the factory Fiat amp might damage it, so test before connecting. Basically, if your speakers are playing sound, it's probably a high output circuit from the head unit. Also, if you are direct wired to the speakers, unplug the connector plugs on the factory amp. I hope that helps.
